Modern vehicles increasingly feature large panoramic glass roofs, fixed glass roof panels, multi-panel roof systems, and expansive sunroof systems that are very different from traditional automotive glass. When these systems are cracked, shattered, leaking, damaged, or require related component work, proper replacement involves more than simply installing a piece of glass.
We’ll determine what your vehicle’s glass roof system needs and guide you toward the right repair or replacement.

This 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS came in for a full panoramic glass roof replacement, completed in-house to Porsche’s factory specifications. Taycan roof glass is bonded rather than bolted, so proper fitment matters for structural rigidity, wind noise, and weather sealing. Jobs like this often call for ADAS recalibration afterward, since the roof sits close to the car’s sensor systems, and our technicians handle that as part of the process.
Depending on the vehicle, a glass roof may use a single fixed panel, multiple panels, an opening mechanism, or specialized glass technology. Manufacturer terminology also varies, so the same type of system may be described differently from one vehicle to another.
01
Large, stationary glass panels that create an expansive glass roof without an opening mechanism. These systems are increasingly common on modern electric and luxury vehicles.
02
Panoramic systems made up of two or more glass panels. Depending on the vehicle, individual panels may be fixed, movable, or a combination of both.
03
Individual stationary glass panels that form part of the vehicle's roof structure. A fixed glass panel may be part of a larger panoramic system or serve as the vehicle's primary roof glass.
04
Glass roof systems with panels that tilt, slide, retract, or otherwise move to open the roof. Depending on the design, these may be described as panoramic sunroofs, sliding panoramic roofs, or other manufacturer-specific terms.
05
Specialized glass incorporating electronically controlled tint or transparency. These systems can involve additional vehicle-specific technology beyond a conventional glass roof panel.
Terminology varies by manufacturer and model. A vehicle may be marketed as having a panoramic roof, panoramic sunroof, glass roof, glass roof panel, or another manufacturer-specific name. The design and components can also vary between models.

GLASS ROOF SYSTEMS
Damage to a glass roof system isn't always limited to a visible crack or shattered panel. Depending on the vehicle, problems can involve the glass, seals, surrounding components, operating mechanisms, or other parts of the system.
Impact damage, stress cracks, or broken roof glass may require replacement of the affected panel or assembly.
Water entering around a glass roof can have several possible causes, including seals, drainage, fit, or other system components.
Movable systems can develop problems involving tracks, guides, motors, cables, or other operating components.
Unusual wind noise, vibration, or poor fit can indicate an issue with the glass, seals, adjustment, or surrounding components.
A damaged, stuck, or malfunctioning sunshade may require attention even when the roof glass itself is intact.
This 2023 Tesla Model Y came in with impact damage to the panoramic glass roof, cracked at the rear corner where the glass meets the body seam. Our team removed the damaged panel down to the frame, then installed a new roof glass to factory fit and finish. Tesla’s one-piece glass roof is bonded directly to the body, so proper alignment and sealing are essential to prevent leaks and wind noise. The finished install shows a clean seam line and factory-correct headliner fit, inside and out.
